Description

Does someone you know need a rehab program for drug addiction or alcoholism? Sana Lake Recovery Center operates two locations in Missouri. They offer the state’s best treatment for substance abuse and mental health disorders.

Across Missouri, drug addiction is a plague on communities. In 2018, there were 1,132 opioid-related deaths reported in the state. Clearly, something must be done to ensure the health and wellness of MO residents afflicted with drug and alcohol addiction.

Fortunately, Sana Lake has two centers across Missouri where people struggling with drug or alcohol addiction can come for medical detox and mental-health treatment.

What programs and services do Sana Lake offer? Read on for a full list of details on their treatment options.

Detox Programs: Drug, Alcohol Withdrawal

At Sana Lake Recovery, treatment begins with detox, the first step toward sobriety. Detox starts when a person struggling with drug or alcohol addiction quits. As such, this is the most challenging yet crucial stage of recovery. Without it, no recovery is possible.

During detox, chemicals clear from the body. The process usually takes between three and seven days, during which time the recovering drug or alcohol user feels intense cravings. Other symptoms associated with detox include:

  • Nausea
  • Headaches
  • Anxiety
  • Physical stress

Detox is difficult for most recovering addicts because it amplifies the emotional and physical feelings that tempt users to indulge in alcohol and drugs. The pain can be overwhelming for people who use substances to cope with physical stress if endured in an unsupervised setting.

Due to the challenges posed by detox, most recovering users cannot complete it on their own. The cravings and symptoms are often too overwhelming. To get through detox successfully, recovering drug and alcohol users should always enter a treatment facility like Sana Lake, where patients receive 24/7 supervision, support, and medical assistance.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

After a patient completes detox, the next step toward recovery is inpatient treatment. This involves a stay at a recovery facility, usually 30 and 90 days. During inpatient treatment, patients replace old vices with new, healthy habits that prepare them for the outside.

At Sana Lake Recovery, the counseling staff offers support and guidance during each resident’s stay at the facility. Inpatient treatment is a stage of recovery where each patient undergoes a healing process. Those first few months where the individual is free of drugs and alcohol is a period of readjustment. Sana Lake counselors offer much-needed support during this time.

During a residency at Sana Lake, patients follow a structured daily routine with tasks and physical activities. This helps recovering addicts develop positive, productive day-to-day habits, designed to help them cope with life in the real world.

Most people who struggle with addiction lack proper structure in their daily lives. They often resort to drugs and alcohol to cope with pain and stress. At Sana Lake, patients gain the inner strength to cope with life’s challenges in healthier ways and lead productive lives.

Partial Hospitalization (PHP): Full-Time Treatment

Not everyone who undergoes detox enters into a residential treatment program. Another option is partial hospitalization (PHP), where the patient attends daily sessions at the facility and returns home each night for family time and rest. PHP is for patients who have domestic support to recover outside the facility.

PHP consists of 40 hours of weekly treatment, usually eight hours per day, five days a week. Unlike residential treatment, where the patient leaves home for 30 to 90 days to live full-time at a treatment facility, PHP turns recovery into a full-time, 9-to-5 job.

In PHP, patients partake in group and individual therapy sessions. During group therapy, patients share their stories and struggles in a supportive, non-judgmental setting.

At Sana Lake, group therapy consists of patients who’ve all had similar struggles with substance use. Group therapy gives patients a chance to share insights on recovery and engage in the healing process together.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Part-Time Treatment

Another treatment option for patients after detox is the intensive outpatient program (IOP), where patients resume their daily lives and attend treatment sessions part-time. IOP allows patients to honor their work and social obligations and still complete each recovery process step.

IOP consists of 9-12 hours of on-site treatment and activity each week. When patients come to Sana Lake for IOP, they speak with counselors about their progress and partake in group therapy. IOP is an ideal option for patients recovering from less severe chemical dependencies, such as addictions to prescription medication.

During their time in the Sana Lake IOP program, patients follow a set of guidelines based on the 12-step model. This helps patients lead structured lives and develop positive mindsets, healthy habits, and constructive methods of problem-solving.

Some patients use IOP as a step-down program once they’ve completed residential inpatient treatment or PHP. For example, a patient might sufficiently recover after a 30-day residency, at which point a mutual decision is reached with his/her counselor to transfer to IOP.

Sober Living

Some people have trouble readjusting to society after treatment. In many cases, people find themselves heavily in debt and financially strapped after drug and alcohol addiction periods. For a lot of people, substance use is a coping mechanism for financial hardship.

When treatment ends, people in tough situations might find it hard to stay clean due to various problems in life. If they lack friends or family, they may not feel as if they have people to turn to in times of difficulty. If they live or work in crime-ridden areas where drugs are commonplace, it could be a lot more difficult to walk the straight and narrow.

In a sober living program, former drug and alcohol users can pull themselves up from difficult situations in life. Sober living programs help recovered addicts transition back into the real world.

Sana Lake helps former patients make successful transitions back into society after their time at the facility.

Mental Health: Depression Therapy

Drug addiction and alcoholism often manifest from deep-seated mental health problems. A lot of people who fall into addictive habits suffer from depression and past trauma. The counselors at Sana Lake help patients work through these issues as part of an overall treatment plan.

Treatment counselors use dual-diagnosis therapy to identify the mental health disorders present in drug-addicted individuals. Each person who comes in for treatment at Sana Lake speaks with a counselor. The staff treats patients as individuals, knowing that people develop drug and alcohol addiction from various dispositions and life situations.

As the patient discusses his/her background and history with drugs and alcohol, the counselor uses the info to help identify the psychological roots of that person’s addiction. With this information, Sana Lake staff are better equipped to customize treatment plans that address the specific needs of each individual.

Medication-Assisted Treatment

Detox is the most challenging stage of recovery for most people who make the commitment to overcome drug and alcohol addiction. To help patients through the initial phase of withdrawal, Sana Lake clinicians may administer medication to curb cravings and physical symptoms.

There are three drugs approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for opioid treatment: buprenorphine (which minimizes pain), methadone (which blocks cravings), and naltrexone (which blocks opioid effects). These meds make it easier for patients to get through the most challenging part of detox, which usually occurs 24-72 hours from when they first go clean.

At Sana Lake, clinicians and nurses monitor detox patients around the clock and administer anti-opioid medications on an as-needed basis. The objective is to bring every patient through the most difficult stage of withdrawal and onward to full recovery.
